After a long journey from Brighton to Norwich, Lime Garden’s wonderfully wonky pop sound is still echoing in our streets after last nights’ gig.
The girls are five weeks into their 31-date tour but, with a performance full of energy, dancing and musical brilliance – you wouldn’t have known it.
The indie-pop band took over the Waterfront to fill the venue with lyrics, sounding what it’s really like to be a girl in her mid-twenties.
Opening with the poignant – and deeply relatable – Body, which delves into the inner self-loathing many of us have experiences, the band seamlessly moved through the fabulous set-list.
They played their absolute bangers, All Bad Parts and Clockwork (Livewire Station Manager Nathan’s top picks), while slaying with the brilliant Maybe Not Tonight and Love Song (my absolute favourites).
Lead vocalist, Chloe Howard, obviously thrives in a live setting while sounding just as polished as on her records. Her stage presence is unquestionable, as she switched from guitar to a cute tambourine while sporting a chic scarf.
The rest of the band were no different, with Leila Deeley on guitar, Tippi Morgan on bass, and the album’s producer and band’s drummer, Annabel Whittle, all sounding as fantastic live as they do on their records.
But the best part of the night? Seeing all the girls all standing together towards the end of the gig, enjoying a moment of pure fun onstage. Timeless, meaningful, girlhood.
The group is undeniably going to go places and, if you get the opportunity to see them for their ‘Maybe Not Tonight’ tour, you need to get your tickets now.
Plus, if you’re wondering if you should check out Lime Garden’s newest album, this is your sign to do so. Immediately.
